A lifeguard’s seat has been erected at Montgomery to enable us to admire the busting city from above.
Montgomery, on the boundary between Sint-Pieters-Woluwe and Etterbeek, is a crucial crossroads in the city. The square is a major traffic intersection and the roundabout with its fountain is a striking entranceway into the city. Around Montgomery lies an internationally-oriented district with many embassies, schools, doctors' practices and fine mansions. It also has a conspicuous number of larger mansions from around the previous turn of the century. Not far from here is the Stocklet palace, a gem of art deco.
This work adornes the corner of Montgomery Square and St-Michielslaan / Avenue Saint-Michel since June 2008.
In this area Passa Porta collaborated with the cultural policy coordinators of Sint-Pieters-Woluwe and Etterbeek, with the many libraries in the area and with local clubs and local authority centres such as KAJ Don Bosco SPW, GC Kontakt and GC Maelbeek. The Home for the Children of Fairground Travellers and Bargees and the École de Recherche Graphique (ERG) were also partners.
